Standards collections

Standards collections

Standards collections in the Main Library consist of over 120 thousand Polish and international standards in electronic version and over 100 thousand archival standards in paper format.

Journals, bulletins and other auxiliary publications related to standards are also available. Access to standard collections is only possible on-site at the Special Collections Department Reading Room, using computer terminals, with no option for copying or transferring files. Remote access to standards is not possible due to licensing restrictions, except for ASTM and IEEE standards, for which access is provided through the ASTM Compass database and IEEE Xplore database.

What standards do we have in our collections?

You can search for Polish Standards on the website of the Polish Committee for Standardization.

BN Standards (Industry Standards) are one type of technical normative documents that were created by entities independent of the Polish Committee for Standardization, such as entrepreneurs, academic circles, ministries, etc. These standards were applied in businesses within a specific industry. With the entry into force of the Standardization Act on September 12, 2002, the Polish Committee for Standardization (PKN) ceased to maintain a collection of industry standards and discontinued their sale. Existing collections, including Industry Standards (BN) and Military Industry Standards (WBN), were transferred to the Archive of New Acts by PKN.

Nevertheless, every citizen and organizational unit still has the right to access archival materials, which are provided free of charge for educational, cultural, technical, and economic purposes. Industry Standards are available in the Archive of New Acts and can be applied on a voluntary basis. However, it should be noted that they may contain outdated technical data. It is safer to use the Polish Standard, which includes up-to-date technical information.

The list includes Industry Standards available in the collections of the Library. Where possible, information about replacements and references to subsequent editions has been added. It is possible to order copies of BN standards available in the Main Library of AGH. Check the Price List for services and fees charged by the Main Library of AGH.
