Relative Activity Index (RAI)

The Relative Activity Index (RAI) is defined as the unit's share of publications in a specific field relative to the global share of publications in the same field. A value of 1.0 indicates that the research activity of the unit in a given field precisely corresponds to the global activity in that field; a value higher than 1.0 signifies a greater emphasis, while a value lower than 1.0 suggests a lesser emphasis. In the case of SDGs, RAI is calculated by analyzing the total number of publications by a given unit related to a specific SDG, divided by the unit's total number of publications, to obtain a percentage value. The same calculations are performed for each SDG globally. The index for a unit is calculated by dividing the unit's percentage by the global percentage.
