Libraries and SDGs

The position of libraries regarding the support for the implementation of the provisions outlined in the document is represented from the beginning by the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA). The Federation has developed materials that illustrate the connections between library activities and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aiming to promote the Agenda through library representatives in interactions with local governments, institutions, and residents. Additionally, on the Library Map of The World platform, under the SDG Stories tab, there are examples of best practices implemented by institutions worldwide. The Library Map team has prepared a guide instructing on what and how can be published on the platform. In Poland, all actions in this area are supported by the Association of Polish Librarians, which has launched a website under the slogan "Libraries, Development, and the UN Agenda." On the mentioned website, you can find guidelines on how libraries can implement specific Goals (SDGs).
