Trade literature

Trade literature includes all documents containing information about manufacturers and their products, presented in the form of descriptions of construction and operation, applications, technical parameters, sometimes also including the product's price, production volume, or trade turnover.

In the Library's collections, there are manufacturers' catalogues from various industries with diverse levels of scientific and informational content. These collections mainly consist of domestic literature. The most numerous group is represented by catalogues in the field of mining. They cover a broad range of underground mining mechanization, including machines for excavation and transport, mechanized enclosures, wall complexes, backfilling devices, drilling equipment, ventilation and air conditioning devices, hoisting machinery, topics related to the mechanical processing and enrichment of coal, environmental protection, and issues associated with mining restructuring. Mining guidebook series include valuable schematics of mining machinery.

For several years, work has been underway at the Library related to the development of a collection in the AGH Libraries online catalogue. It is worth noting that the informational value of individual documents varies. Currently, you can find close to 2000 items in the catalogue.

Efforts are also being made as part of the project to digitize and make available trade literature in the field of engineering and technology sciences from 1955 to 1989. The project is funded by the state budget, allocated by the Minister of Education and Science as part of Social Responsibility of Science II — module: Support for Scientific Libraries.
